But there are SO MANY film interpretations of the Peter Pan story, why this one?
Out of all the ones I've seen, and I've seen quite a few (I absolutely love the story), this one seems to be the closest to the Peter and Wendy tale. (Which I reviewed yesterday, and you can read that review here). There are some differences (like the movie emphasizing the love interest between Peter and Wendy in a way that isn't emphasized in the book).
