Film Friday: The Secret Life of Bees

My Initial Thoughts
The book left me feeling so drained. I cried so hard reading it, which is rare for me. It made me approach the movie with a little trepidation. All I could think was, there is no possible way for a movie to live up to what the book invoked. But I promised myself to go into watching it with as open a mind as possible. So once I'd rebalanced myself, and dried my tears, I started up the movie.

Book vs Movie
The movie started off well. The narrator, Lily was instantly believable and likeable, while her father was an instant villain. I liked how well the movie conveyed the story. The emotions, the events...although nothing is ever better than the book, this movie is an excellent tribute to a beautiful and heartbreaking story, which through it all, somehow manages to convey hope.
