Check It Out: Poetry for Lovers and Haters

Poetry for Lovers and Haters by Megan the Poet
Poetry Anthology

Heavily inspired by iconic female authors like Dickinson, Woolf and Winterson, ‘Poetry for Lover and Haters’ details the everlasting journey from anger to peace from the female perspective. From grief to growth, Megan The Poet’s debut collection of poems start at the darkest and grow into the dawn.

Processing her own trauma through poetry, Megan The Poet hopes that this cathartic collection will help others to tackle their own. Self-published in the 2020 Corona-virus crisis, Poetry for Lovers and Haters not only offers an insight into the world of quarter life crisis, but an honest portrayal of individual growth in tough times.

“I know nothing in the world that has as much power as a word. Sometimes I write one, and I look at it, until it begins to shine.”
- Emily Dickinson

4 out of 5 fairies

Poetry for Lovers and Haters is short but enjoyable. Each piece varies in tone, and although it's not a large anthology, I still recommend it for a quick read. Megan manages to convey a range of emotions in poems of varying length.

About the Author:
Things Megan has in common with Emily Dickinson:
Reclusive as hell
Would die for her dog
Not-so-secretly gay
Feminist as can be
Obsessed with penmanship
Generally spooky vibes

Things Megan doesn’t have in common with Emily Dickinson:
Only appreciated after death.

Megan The Poet grew up in chaos [otherwise known as a house in South Wales, shared with six siblings]. Escape came from reading, and so she continued to pursue an education with as many imaginary worlds as possible.

Proudly graduating from Aberystwyth University with a 2:1 in English Literature and currently on track for a Distinction in her Creative Writing and Publishing MA, she is mighty pleased with herself.

Poetry has always been a labour of love for Megan, and she hopes her debut collection Poetry for Lovers and Haters inspires her to write and publish more of her work whilst searching for a life of employment and living alone (despite the noise and mess of her family filled home, she remains in love with most of them).
