Strangers by Candace Adams
Psychological Thriller

Eleanor and Jack Harvey just celebrated their 25th anniversary. On what should have been a perfect night, Eleanor receives a message from a voice from her past.
Over the course of a few months, the mysterious stranger ups his game to a deadly obsession and their happy life together takes a heinous turn for the worse.
Stalked, followed, threatened, tormented, Eleanor’s life spirals out of control while her elusive stalker gets closer and closer. He seems to know her only too well and is always one step ahead. Will Eleanor uncover the truth behind this obsessive stranger before it is too late? Or is he really much closer than she thinks?

3 out of 5 fairies

Strangers is interesting. I was expecting a happy, ideal marriage disrupted by a message from Eleanor’s past, and a mysterious stalker. Instead, we got an abusive marriage which honestly I’m not sure which is more distressing – the emotional abuse Eleanor’s controlling husband dishes out or Eleanor’s creepy stalker. It’s decently written but I feel misled by the synopsis as there really is no happy marriage to disrupt. I think I would’ve enjoyed it more if the psychological aspect was focused more on the stalker and I wasn’t also waiting for Eleanor’s husband to finally snap and kill her. Three out of five because it’s well written, even if the plot didn’t sit well with me.
