Our guest today is Jenni Bara, the author behind More Than the Game
Lily: Thank you so much for agreeing to this interview Jenni we I enjoyed reading More Than the Game. What inspired you to write a sports romance?
Jenni: My job is heavy and rarely do I see a happy ending – so the happily ever after of romance is a great escape to balance that. And I think if you add in some laughs along the way it makes people feel good.
Lily: I think you did a great job. Was Beth inspired by anyone?
Jenni: Not really but also in some ways by every single mom. A little bit overwhelemed trying to hang on. Doesn’t need one more thing but wishes for a partner. I think every single mom anywhere can relate to that part about her.
Lily: That’s a great inspiration. Do you have another book planned?
Jenni: YES! More than Fine. Book 2 of Becoming an Evans comes out Nov 23. The cover reveal and blurb just released this week. I’m so excited about it. Early 2022 book 3 in the series will drop.
Lily: I look forward to it! Now we’d like to talk about you as a writer. Where’s your favorite place to write?
Jenni: Outside. I love the peacefulness of being outside especially at night when its dark and quiet.
Lily: That sounds like a wonderful place to write. Are you more productive in the morning or at night?
Jenni: Night. Because in the morning all my kids are running around lol.
Lily: I’m a night owl myself. How do you keep track on inspiration when it strikes?
Jenni: I plot the story out in my mind, so I pretty much have the book run through my mind like a movie on repeat over and over by the time I write it.
Lily: I bet that makes it much easier! Let’s finish up with some fun questions and get inside your mind. What’s your favorite sandwich?
Jenni: BLT!
Lily: I could go for a BLT right now hehe. If you could spend 24 hours with a character from any book, who would it be, and from what book?
Jenni: Oh my goodness this is rough, I have so many characters I love. I’d love to spend a day in either Havenport a town from Daphne Elliot’s books. Or possible with the Bailey Family from Claire Kingsley.
Lily: Sounds like it would be a fun day. What do you like to do in your free time?
Jenni: Read and write. Whenever I can manage a minute of free time, I’m either at my computer hanging out with the Evans family or I have my nose in one of my favorite authors books.
Lily: I can’t argue with that – I think it’s pretty obvious I love reading. Is cereal with milk soup? Why or why not?
Jenni: I love soup – hate cereal so I’m going with a hard no.
Lily: That’s the best reason I’ve gotten yet, I think. Toilet paper, over or under? How do you feel about people who do it the opposite way?
Jenni: If one of the six people in my house with me have bothered to replace the roll so I’m not stuck without any toilet I’m a happy camper.
Lily: I hate when people don’t replace the roll, it’s so frustrating! Would you rather have a flying carpet or a car that can drive underwater?
Jenni: Car that drives underwater if I could be a fish I would. I love the water.
Lily: I can just imagine the adventures you could have in a car that drove underwater. How can readers discover more about you and your work?
