Flight of Fools blurs the lines between what is fantasy and what is real. It pokes holes in the page until there is nothing left to keep the real world from seeping in, and nothing left to stop the ending from reaching out through the page to clutch your chest and squeeze.

This book certainly delivers on what it promises. With the way things have been going politically the last decade or so, it’s sometimes hard to wonder if we aren’t living in some sort of twisted satire ourselves. This book was both an escape and a look into the problems plaguing the world today – racism, poverty, greed, and the lengths people will go to for political power. (You’d have to be pretty blind to current events to not see the parallels between them and this story). There are moments that will absolutely make you laugh out loud at the absurdity, and the characters are wonderfully written and well-fleshed out. If you’re looking for a way to see the humor in all the darkness, or just want a funny fantasy story, then you’ve found your next read!

Sean Myers was born in Connecticut in 1988. He graduated with a B.A. in English from the University of New Hampshire in 2010 and with a J.D. in human rights law from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. His writings have appeared in numerous places in print and online, including in the Cincinnati Enquirer, Ethical Traveler, and McSweeney’s Internet Tendency. Flight of Fools is his first novel.
Sean works as a freelance legal writer. He lives in the Adirondacks with his dog, Marlowe.
