Rise of the Hunter is the fourth book in the Blood Prophecy series and is the first book of a new trilogy for the Tall Dark Man. It is full of dark magic and vengeance with a twist of good vs. evil but will good win this time? This supernatural book is set in the modern-day world between supernaturals to control the world and unleash evil as the world prepares for peace.

Disclaimer: I have not read the Blood Prophecy series, but because it’s the first book in the Tall Dark Man trilogy, I figured that wouldn’t be an issue. (And on Amazon and Goodreads it’s not marked as part of any series, you have to read the blurb to find that out).
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s talk about the story. It’s got a lot of action, and the plot moves along pretty smoothly. You get to see things unfold from multiple POVs, which while I like, I would’ve liked a little more separation between the switches, and maybe a few less characters, it got a little overwhelming at times. The characters are all very interesting, but they fell a little flat for me (I’m guessing you *have* to read the Blood Prophecy series to fill them out, which is something that should be mentioned in the blurb, especially when you’re marking this book as also starting off a new series. That all said, the plot overall is very interesting, and lives up to the promise of evil setting out to seek vengeance. There are quite a few twists and turns to the story, and you’ll be wondering whether good will actually manage to triumph over evil this time. Overall, an interesting read that promises a thrilling set of books to follow.
