Have I ever told you the story of my parents’ love? They were high school sweethearts, and I loved it when little trickles of their story together would slip out as I was growing up. I watched them stay faithful to their vows, even when they were apart or times got tough. They showed me what love and dedication looked like, and it’s something I’ll never forget. What follows is my retelling of what they’d told me over the years. Although this may seem full of clichés, I promise, this was based on a real story. I just never realized how much it sounded like a romance plot until I sat down to write it down. Hopefully you’ll enjoy their story as much as I have over the years, cliché or not. Roses are my mother’s favorite flower, and that’s why I chose them for this story.
