First, let me say I love the premise of this book. It really paints a picture of a near-utopia, where those who do invisible work are seen, and there’s a push towards more equality. The story is told in snippets of sorts, going through the way life is now, and showing the difference between the new/old world with anecdotes and incidents. My only complaint, is it feels kind of flat, and while interesting, what pulled me forward was wanting to see more of this new, ideal world, and not what was happening with the characters. It’s a good book, but could use a little refining on that front. That said, I thought the world was brought to life quite well, and I loved the murals painted on the walls celebrating community and invisible labor. I would love to live in a world like that, where things are more equitable, especially for those who carry the majority of the mental load in their families. Overall, I would recommend this, especially if you’re curious what a world that truly had more equality would look like!
