I was so excited to see what thrilling, tangled web awaited in this latest Sandra Vos mystery/thriller, and I got so much more than I expected. Watching Sandra and Eric work together to try and solve a decades old case and free a family safely made for a captivating story. Arnold has a way of bringing all her characters to life, and they’re complex, not perfect. It’s hard to hate the “bad” guys at times because they feel so human, instead of over the top villainous. I got so wrapped up in the story, and invested in Ryan’s tragic story and wanting to see how everything unfold that I blew through this in one day. (Seriously, set aside time, grab your favorite drink and snack and get cozy)! While you don’t have to read the earlier books in the series, you’ll have a better understanding of Sandra and Eric and their dynamic if you do.
