But as their paths intertwine, Agatha can’t shake the feeling that there’s more to Ajax than meets the eye. With the clock ticking and her cousin’s life on the line, Agatha must journey back to her mother’s home, a place she swore she would never return to. 5 out of 5 fairies

Wow. Greek mythology with an intriguing and thrilling modern twist. I love Aggie’s character, she’s smart, strong, and independent, but can also be vulnerable. Ajax was interesting, at first he just seems like a mercenary, but the more you get to know him, the more layers you uncover. The imagery is quite vivid, and it feels like you’re standing right next to the characters watching it all unfold. The story moves along at a fairly quick pace, and you’re drawn in from the very first page. There’s a little bit of mystery, and a lot of tension, and I don’t just mean between Aggie and Ajax! (Although those two were clearly meant to be together just from how they react to each other when they meet). One of my favorite parts of this is it pulls from Greek mythology but adds some new things to it. I love the idea of the three gorgon sisters having daughters that grew up together, forming lasting bonds of friendship that run deep. The blending of myth and modern times and new elements was done seamlessly and uniquely. I cannot wait to see what book two has in store!
