Rashid was an imbecile. Thanks to her, he had his green card, an unlimited amount of luxury and financial security. Everything a person desired. All she demanded in return was sensual pleasure and her freedom to go and do as she pleased. But like most of the male species, he couldn’t keep it in his pants and took advantage of her every opportunity. If he’d just followed her rules, he could’ve been a rich man. Nobody cheats on Sylvia Temple and gets away with it. 

A motor roared to life. Sylvia jumped, choked back a scream. It was only a dinghy putting toward a sailboat anchored in the middle of the lagoon. For Christ sake, woman, ditch the paranoia, she chastised herself. You’re better than that. Sylvia took a deep breath, let the air slowly slide through her lips. Who could blame her with everything that had been happening the last several months? 

Life had been near perfect until that cousin of Rashid’s showed up a couple years ago. Rashid changed, became more secretive, and constantly entertained creepy dark figures with shifty eyes. They talked mumbo jumbo, made her feel like an intruder in her own home. Lately, even the smallest sound made her jump; she constantly checked behind her, feared someone, something lurked in the shadows. A shiver pancaked against her spine. Maybe her suspicions were having more of an effect on her than she had realized. 

How many times had she picked up the phone and dialed Carter Banks. After all, if anyone knew something suspicious was going on with Rashid and Jaali, he should. But every time she dialed the Senator’s number, a nagging intrusion clawed at her stomach and made her disconnect the call.

A proud wife of a retired Air Force officer, mother of one son and grandparent of three grandchildren, Ellen, didn’t start writing until retirement years, and even then she considered writing a hobby.  In 2019 she published a historical fiction, SONS OF CUBA, a two book series.  INTO THE DEVILS DEN is her third publication.  During the early months while COVID-19 was wreaking havoc through the nation and around the world, she took the opportunity to write another suspense thriller entitled SHATTERED LOYALTIES which she hopes will be published and released sometime in 2021.
