A Wolf Before the Storm
Wolves of Stormfall Book 1
by J. W. Golan

In an age of magic, in a realm where werewolves stalk the land, a lost girl awakens from a nightmare – and claims a legend as her own. Callisto has lived by her wits and talents, an indentured servant to a den-master of thieves. Trained as a lockpick, she proves equally adept with a dagger. Fate has seldom thrown her any favors. The few it has, she has learned to make the most from. In a prequel to the Stormfall Chronicles, meet Bateria’s famed assassin before she became “little red”

5 out of 5 fairies

This is an absolutely gripping story. Getting a peek at Callisto’s life before she appears in the series was interesting and really added depth to her character. She’s had a hard life, but she’s capable and smart. We get to see where she started and her path to where she lands. The action is vivid, and the story will keep you turning pages wanting to know what happens next. I cannot recommend this enough, and it works great as a standalone, although I do recommend reading the series as well (just because they’re good books)

A writer, father, and aeronautical engineer, J.W. Golan lives in New England together with his wife and three daughters.

It was his three daughters who reintroduced him to the world of fantasy fiction. It was this experience – sharing and discussing stories and literature – that convinced him to compose a fantasy novel of his own, weaving together tales and ideas that had been circulating in his mind for decades into tales that he could share with his own daughters.
