It was so fun to dive back into this world, with characters we got to know in book one. Of course, nothing is ever easy for Jelani and Astan, and the challenges they face in this book will keep you turning pages for hours. It was wonderful to get to explore more of the magical side of the world, and to see how much Jelani has grown since the journey started in book one. No one said being queen would be easy, and it’s easy to relate to how she struggles to deal with the challenges of ruling over a people she grew up knowing nothing about. (Culture clash, anyone?) Overall, a great fantasy read, but I would start with book one if you want to fully embrace the story.
