In a northern fishing village, children are kidnapped during an enemy attack. Not trusting in the king’s response, a mixed group of villagers sets out to free them against all odds. Through stormy seas and wild woods they fight their way in search of their loved ones.

This was a great adventure fantasy. There’s a powerful opening that grabs your attention and draws you in, and what follows is an unforgettable adventure. The unlikely crew faces many obstacles in their quest to rescue those who were kidnapped. The world is well-built, and I loved the way Pteri’s magic worked. The characters have their own backgrounds and beliefs they bring with them, bound together by a common purpose. I really enjoyed learning more about each of them as the story progressed. There’s a bit of violence in the story, so if that’s not your cup of tea, you may want to skip this one. Otherwise, it’s a great fantasy, and I look forward to reading more.
