I *loved* The Pain Eater, so I couldn’t wait to read the sequel. It was absolutely worth the wait. The Magic Man…wow. I don’t remember the last time a single character made me feel simultaneously chilled to the bone and sick to my stomach. I don’t know how Arnett did it, but she managed to bring a character to life that somehow seems too real while you’re relieved he isn’t. Sadie and Adrian are back, and are just as wonderful as ever. My heart really went out to Sadie, she’s in such an impossible position, yet she remains strong through it all. The story will have your heart racing so fast, you could probably count it as cardio. A gripping, dark thriller, that fans of paranormal fiction and Criminal Minds are sure to enjoy.
