This book is an absolute tour de force. Scott does an excellent job of bringing medieval Bohemia to life, with rich characters who feel like they stepped right out of history. The plot itself moves along smoothly and fairly quickly, and captures you so quickly that it’s hard to set down the book after the first page. I loved watching the story unfold in front of me, and it was difficult to stop reading long enough to deal with everyday life. I did not expect to be so enraptured by a story of politics, religion, family, and betrayal. There is nothing dry or boring about this book, and anyone who enjoys historical fiction will absolutely fall in love with this book, just as I have.
