We get to dive right back into Anya’s world, without much time passing from book one (so make sure to read it first, or you’re going to be very lost). The major battle is drawing closer, but Anya and crew have a lot of recovering and preparing to do before it comes. The story moves along fairly smoothly, but I have to admit I was hoping Anya would’ve grown a little more by this time. (She still feels a bit childish at times, even with all she’s been through to get here). There’s plenty of action and twists to keep your heart racing, however, and Kuivalainen’s descriptions make it easy to slip into the midst of the action. If you’re looking for a unique fantasy that intertwines mythology from around the world, you’ll want to grab this!
