Sometimes it seems only a nurse can bring technical information down to an understanding that an ordinary person can grasp.  The Nurse Florence® book series provides high quality medical information that even a child can grasp.  By introducing young kids to correct terminology and science concepts at an early age, we can help increase our children’s health literacy level as well as help to prepare them for courses and jobs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.  We need more scientists so I hope that many children will enjoy this book series and consider a job involving science.

This is a great STEM focused book, that explains how emotions work in the brain. The story is short, and includes scientific terms (with a pronunciation guide). It’s a great way to introduce kids to part of how the brain works, including emotions, how emotions can effect memories, and vice versa, as well as how medicine can effect emotions. The drawings went along with the story, and there were some that illustrated the cells and parts of the brain involved in emotions, which I liked. If you’re looking for a book to explain how emotions work, then you’ll want to grab this to read with your kids.
