This was like a D&D adventure crossed with a spicy romance, and I loved every moment of it. Ives drops you right into the action (literally), and gets you hooked from page one. She has a way with words that just transports you into the magical world she’s created. I absolutely adored Delphine from the start. She’s a kick-ass FMC, but still struggles with the sting of loss, and at times doubts about whether she’s capable of completing her mission with minimal allied losses. Riev ended up being different than I expected, in the best way. He and Delphine were clearly made for each other, even though they might be a bit resistant at the start. Getting to see the story from both their POV added some nice depth. Add in the magnificent world-building and excellent pacing, with just enough twists it’s not predictable, and you get this unforgettable, new spicy fairy tale.
