It’s a little surreal to think I’ve just finished reading the last installment in The Runetree Chronicles. I’ve been enamored with it since book one, and it’s a little bittersweet to reach the end of this epic fantasy adventure series. Corbett wastes no time dropping you back into the expertly crafted world Aeda inhabits. It was like walking through a portal to meet up with what feels like an old friend. Although this is the final installment, there’s no shortage of tension, twists, and heart-racing action. You do need to read the first three books, or you’re going to feel very lost, just a heads-up. I was so hooked from the first chapter, it was frustrating to set down when real life duties called. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but as sad as I was to reach the end, I thought it was done very well. I would love to spend more time in the world, but I’ll just have to hope for spin-offs!
Brendan Corbett was raised in a southern, Korean, military family. As a child, he moved more than a dozen times and his professional career has followed a similarly roving path. His career took him from job shop operator to STEM curriculum developer, Fortune 500 engineer to nonprofit director. Through all these experiences books were a constant source of escape and adventure, leading him to writing a series about an outcast finding their place in the world.
