I had to sit with this for a bit before writing this review. It made chills creep up my spine, made me cry, tore out my heart, and filled me with hope. I can’t describe accurately the range of emotions these stories put me through, it’s something you truly have to experience for yourself. The first story, The Memory Auction is like a punch to the gut, but so powerful. I enjoyed all the stories, but that one really set the tone for what was to follow. It wasn’t all dark and sadness, there were some stories that gave hope for a brighter tomorrow. These are short stories, easy to read one and pause to take care of real life obligations or to just let the story sink in a bit. But I must warn you, reading this is a bit addictive. You’ll find it difficult to only read one story in a sitting. Some stories felt like watching a horror movie unfold, others like a lifetime movie. Some might be hard to read, as they deal with heavy losses, serious guilt, and others are sad at first but end with hope and forgiveness. I cannot recommend this enough to anyone looking for an emotional read.
