The first book was action-packed and full of tension, but Chowdhury has managed to bring the second installment to a whole new level! Ruban and Ashwin are back, and things haven’t gotten any easier for them, despite the major threat from before being dead and buried. I loved the idea of the “Feather Mafia” and thought it was really well executed. A mix of aerials and humans working together, attacking non-exiled aerials and taking their wings. It gave off a very real-world organized crime vibe, without feeling too cliché. Ruban has grown a lot, and Ashwin is definitely becoming one of my favorite characters. This was quite fast-paced, and the action scenes are so vividly described it feels like you’re watching them unfold, not reading them. I will warn you this had more violence than book one, but it’s not gratuitous, it fits in with the story and the villain they’re up against. Overall, definitely start with book one, because this is a series you need to read if you enjoy fantasy thrillers!
