I could not wait to dive into this after the way book one ended, and I was caught up in the story from the moment I started reading. We get to see everything unfold from Elys and her captor’s POV, and it adds new layers to the mystery we saw unfold in Betrayal. While you don’t need to read that to enjoy this one (it works just fine as a standalone), I really recommend it! The MMC is mysterious, but there are little hints that will have you guessing at who he is (no spoilers). The dynamic between them is interesting, and there’s an extra layer of tension, as we find out more about why Elys was kidnapped in the first place, and the other dynamics at play. The story moves at a smooth pace, and the tension keeps you hooked. While the ending was good, there’s still more I want to know, and I’m dying to find out what happens in book three!
