After the way book one left me hanging, I could not wait to dive into this one, and Claire didn’t disappoint in the slightest. Of course, now all I can think about is book three! I fell in love with Louisa and 773496S6 (feels weird calling him that, but he really doesn’t have a name) and I was excited to see where their forbidden love, and his mission, would take them. It breaks my heart that they’re forced to sneak around like teenagers, only the stakes are so much higher. Louisa has really grown and matured over the course of both books, it feels like a natural progression as she wakes up to reality, and sheds the propaganda and faulty beliefs she was raised with. The story really starts to pick up towards the end, and once again we’re met with a killer cliffhanger. Claire does an amazing job of painting the story around you, and making you love, or hate, the characters she creates. If you enjoy very dark romance, then you need to read this!
