The perfect couple, perfect family, perfect life, from the outside, but once you look a little closer, you can see the cracks. Rands does an excellent job of painting the picture of two successful adults, with their own secret concerns. It’s something you could easily expect to see behind any couple who shares their success on social media or through other channels. I will say, the appearance of the witch was about what I expected from the blurb – the immediate fallout from it, however, was not. That’s really where Rands diverged from my expectations and piqued my interest. Although I wouldn’t really call this a horror, it does fit squarely into the thriller category. Although it had a bit of a slow start, once it really gets going, the momentum doesn’t let up, and keeps you hooked to the very end. Honestly, if you’re looking for a thriller that peels back the perfect facade of social media and looks at what lies beneath, then you’ll want to read this.
