This was a cozy romantasy, full of fun, magic, and all the feels. Neo is an interesting character, and being introduced to him while he was at home gave us a good idea of who he is, and what his family is like. I will admit the opening isn’t the smoothest, but by the time you meet Zula, you’re pretty invested in the story. I love how unique the magic system is, and that Zula is not only a bard, but a thief. They’re complex characters, and their romance and semi-rivalry is cute. Although an unusual situation to become friends/lovers, Ford does a good job of making it work. If you like clean, cute, and kind of cozy romantasies with unlikely couples, then you’ll enjoy this.
