The Day Droplet Fell: A Story about Friendship, Change, and Growth
by Spencer Brown

When a small raindrop named Droplet falls away from his best friend Nimbus, a gentle cloud in the sky, he begins a heartfelt journey through the natural world. As Droplet moves through rain, rivers, and streams, he learns that change is a part of growing, even when it feels scary or lonely. Along the way, he meets new friends, discovers inner strength, and begins to understand that love and connection can remain, even when things change.

The Day Droplet Fell is a beautifully illustrated children’s picture book about friendship, emotional growth, and resilience. Through the calming rhythm of the water cycle, this story helps young readers explore big feelings in a safe and comforting way. Perfect for ages 6-12, this thoughtful story encourages conversations about change, loss, and hope, while reminding children that every ending can also be a new beginning.

5 out of 5 fairies

This book is exactly the kind of book I would’ve loved as a kid. The illustrations fit the story well, and are soft and inviting. I like that at the end there are questions for young readers. This book serves two purposes – it gives a quick overview of the water cycle, but mostly focuses on friendship and change. As a kid (and sometimes even as an adult) it can be really hard to accept friends moving away, or changing and drifting apart. But in today’s world, that is so much more connected than it was when I was a kid, it’s a little easier to stay in touch, even though your friends may change while you’re apart. This would be perfect for any kids dealing with changing friendships, or friends moving away!
