Inspired by the outlandish TV Show Reno 911 comes this quirky, polyamorous comedy that pulls back the curtain on the hilarious world of four rebels, one man, and three women who decide to defy the traditional one-man, one-woman lifestyle and instead pursue the ultimate taboo.

On a flight to Chicago, Madison Mitchell, a personal assistant and writer, runs into her ex-boyfriend, Hunter Scott, a successful movie producer, and it’s love at first sight all over again. After a few cocktails and a little back-and-forth flirtatious banter, they both realize that the chemistry between them is undeniable and decide to have a sexy tryst for old times’ sake.

Y’all, if you’re looking for a sweet, serious romance, then this is not the book for you. If you’re looking for something that is absolutely absurd, funny, and truly in the vein of the TV show that inspired it, you need to read this next. I was a little hesitant going into this – things that try to take comedy over the top can sometimes cross the line into no longer being funny. Keep in mind, this is not a serious or real representation of romance or polyamory. It’s a fun take and should not, under any circumstances, be called an example of ethical non-monogamy, aka polyamory. That said, I was giggling from early in the story at the over-the-top absurdity of the narration and everything going on. Just as Reno 911 is a spoof of serious cop shows, this fits perfectly into the slot of a spoof of a romantic comedy movie unfolding before my eyes (except in story form). If horror movies are more your speed, think early Scary Movie franchise installments for the overall vibe you can expect. If this had been a more serious-toned book, it would not have worked at all. In any setting but an absurdist one, I would absolutely despise some of these characters and their attitudes towards things. If you’ve ever heard the arguments against polyamory, then you might recognize some of the things happening in this book as those arguments multiplied by a thousand. Overall, you’re going to either love it or hate it. (Side note, I’m pro-ethical non-monogamy/polyamory and have friends who have healthy and fulfilling relationships practicing it. And it’s nothing like what’s portrayed here).
