Litha, also known as Midsummer, or the summer solstice, is the longest day of the year. This is the sabbat that celebrates that marriage between Oak King and the Goddess. Bonfires and feasts are a common way to celebrate. Flowers are a big part of the holiday, as many are now in full bloom. Gathering herbs and handfastings are also two popular ways to celebrate.
Personally, I’ll be making some strawberry jam out of fresh strawberries and maybe having a bonfire. I’ll also be leaving out fresh flowers with some of the fresh strawberries I don’t put into the jam as an offering.
What do you plan on doing to celebrate the sun? Don’t forget your sunscreen if you go outside, and be responsible with your fires! If you decide to gather herbs, make sure you properly identify everything, and harvest respectfully.
