Weaving folklore and mythology into the present day, this book brings the reader into a world of both the mundane and the magical, intertwined in one of the least likely places – a small farm on the edge of Russia. The story overall is well written, and while it doesn’t flow as smoothly as I would have liked, the plot is solid. The characters and world-building are where this book truly shines. Anya has her world turned upside down, but she rises to the challenge, even through the darkest moments of her grief. I will warn you – this is hard to put down once you start reading, so keep that in mind!
