What a long, strange, wonderful trip it’s been.
I can’t believe it’s been 9 years. There’s still so many books I want to read, so many posts to update, so many more authors to connect with and interview. Life has been an absolutely wild ride over the past 9 years, and while my health and personal life have gotten crazy and made things a little more difficult, I’m still fighting through and going strong. All the support and love means so much to me. I love books, and at the core that’s why I started this blog. You might notice that over the years the way I rate books has adjusted, it’s changed with Amazon changing their star ratings and with how the book community itself has shifted. It hasn’t been easy to keep track of everything, but I am trying.
You might notice some differences in how my reviews are written at times. I don’t often talk about my health issues, but I’ve had some TBIs (traumatic brain injuries) and it can lead to some cognitive issues, which means sometimes my reviews might sound a little different. The state of the world, especially the US has my stress levels through the roof which isn’t helping anything. Which leads me to why I’m even getting into this – I can honestly say I’ve never used AI to write a review. It’s just little old me with my wonky lil brain and at times unpredictable health. With the rise in AI, I admit it’s something I absolutely worry about people thinking I use it, just because some days my brain is a little more present than others, especially when you often see accusations flying around left and right so often it can make your head spin.
As for submissions – I don’t know when they’ll officially be open again, but if we’ve worked together before, please feel free to reach out to me directly. I have a lot of deadlines on my plate right now, and I need to get past those before officially reopening the forms.
All that to say, I’ve really enjoyed going on this journey with all of you! Here’s to all the books we’ve read before and all the books that we’ve yet to read. – Lily
