5 out of 5

This is a really fun kid’s book that highlights the importance of sanitation workers and recycling as a whole. The illustrations are colorful and go along well with the story. You start at the beginning of Bobbie’s day, with him waking up and starting with a good breakfast, then go through his whole workday, right up to dinner and bedtime. I love how much pride Bobbie takes in his work, and we even get a peek at the recycling plant! As a kid, I remember my dad telling me how important people like secretaries, janitors, and garbagemen really were, even though some people look down on them. Overall, this is a fun, great way to introduce kids to what a sanitation worker does, and why it’s important to take pride in your work.

Bobbie Bin loves his job. He feels a sense of purpose in keeping the Sundae Dream Hotel free of garbage so visitors can enjoy their stay. Bobbie takes great pride in taking part in the recycling process. He feels like an unsung hero, knowing that while his hard work is often overlooked, it is crucial to the smooth running of the hotel, the health of the visitors and staff, and, of course, the environment.
