Our guest today is Robin Brown, the author behind At the End of the Tunnel
Lily: Thank you so much for agreeing to this interview Robin I enjoyed reading At The End Of The Tunnel. I know you said this was inspired by the works of Terry Pratchett and Roald Dahl in the blurb, but what made you choose time travel?
Robin: I like the wibbly-wobbliness of time travel. It can get a little confusing, but it’s different and I like that.
Lily: I think it made for a great story. Do you think you’re more like Colin or Polly?
Robin: I wish I was like Polly, but I know I’m more like Colin, which isn’t a bad thing (it just isn’t very exciting).
Lily: I don’t know, it seems like Colin had some fairly interesting adventures too. Did you need to do any research for this book?
Robin: I did a whole bunch of time travel.
Lily: I bet that led to some fun research. If you stumbled up on a time travel tunnel like Colin did, would you walk into it?
Robin: Absolutely. I’d like someone to hold my hand though.
Lily: That’s totally understandable. Now we’d like to talk about you as a writer. Do you prefer to type, hand write, or dictate your first draft?
Robin: All three at the exact same time. It’s incredibly difficult.
Lily: I can imagine trying to sort that could get messy once it’s time to edit it all. Let’s finish up with some fun questions and get inside your mind. Would you rather be able to talk to land animals, animals that fly, or animals that live under the water?
Robin: I wouldn’t want to talk to animals, but I would like to listen in on their conversations. It’d be interesting (and potentially devastating) to find out what our pets really think of us.
Lily: Sounds like it could be an interesting story too. What movie never gets old, no matter how many times you’ve seen it?
Robin: I don’t know about a movie, but I can read any Discworld book and be just as enthralled as the first time I read it.
Lily: That’s awesome! Which Disney villain would you play tether ball with?
Robin: Does Thanos count as a Disney villain?
Lily: I think so, Disney has taken over Marvel. Is there anything else you would like to add that I haven’t included?
Robin: At The End Of The Tunnel is my first completed book, but I have since gone on and finished two more books and I’m well into my third. I have written a psychological horror called The Child, because I wanted to do something completely different, and a fantasy adventure called Loud Noises, which is fun and bouncy. As you can tell, I have no idea what kind of writer I am. To make it even worse, I’m trying to write a serious fantasy, all swords and magic, with hardly any bounce at all.
Lily: It sounds like writing is an adventure for you, which isn’t a bad thing. How can readers discover more about you, and you work?
Robin: I have a Wattpad account, Rbrown1990, which I’ve only just discovered, and I’m posting my writing there.
